our mission

Even as a small company, we are very aware of our impact on the environment. From the very beginning we have relied on sustainable fabrics from Italy. These are woven from 78% regenerated nylon ECONYL® fiber. The nylon used for this comes largely from abandoned fishing nets and industrial waste.

For our prints, we use a printable fabric that also consists of 78% regenerated polyester. The raw material for this comes from recycled PET bottles - so our bikinis also help to free our seas of plastic and waste and the cycle closes.

You can find more information about this at our blog post and straight up Econyl.

Already in our first year 2019 we were able to realize a big milestone in our history. We created a sustainable collection from fully regenerated ECONYL fibers. Since then and whenever possible we have been looking for sustainable fabrics for our swimwear collection.
The second component in this fabric is lycra, also known as elastane. This fabric is made with X-Tra life Lycra, which is extra durable and durable. This means that it retains its shape and structure even after several summers.
As a start-up company, we are very proud to be able to offer our customers and partner shops sustainable swimwear of the highest quality.

ECONYL® regenerated nylon is made entirely from waste salvaged from landfills and oceans around the world. It has exactly the same properties as virgin nylon and can be recycled, remade and reshaped over and over again. That means you can use it to keep making new products and buying new products without ever consuming new resources.ECONYL® regenerated nylon is not only a solution for minimizing waste, it's also a lot better when it comes to tackling climate change. It reduces nylon manufacturing's impact on global warming by up to 80% compared to traditional fibers made from oil. To put the impact of ECONYL in numbers, for every 10,000 tons of ECONYL material produced, 57,100 tons of carbon dioxide are released into the atmosphere would be emitted and 70,000 barrels of crude oil saved. For us at Palmar Swimwear, this means that even as a small business, we can have an impact on our environment with every bikini sold. You can recognize our swimwear made with ECONYL yarn by the separate tag as well as the print on the inside. The incredible thing about the regeneration process is that when these ECONYL products reach the end of their lifecycle, the fabric goes back into the regeneration process and can be converted back into new nylon. So basically, your Palmar bikini made from collected waste can have a second and third life in the form of any other piece of clothing. Isn't that just amazing?
